Having left his home in Geneva for Neuchâtel under mysterious circumstances, a bankrupt, 64-year-old Meylan crossed paths with an 18-year-old apprentice mechanic named Edouard Glatz. Following an alcohol-fueled encounter, a violent altercation erupted on an obscure path near a local train station. Glatz brutally beat and stoned Meylan to death before robbing him of his remaining cash. This tragic and violent end prematurely cut short the life of one of Switzerland's most underappreciated mechanical geniuses.
